Faithful Women Advancing the Work of Decolonization and Anti-Racism
Women and non-binary people are invited to join Catholic writer, contemplative activist and certified spiritual director, Leslye Colvin, for a free virtual daylong retreat to help prepare for the Season of Advent. We will do this by engaging in community with our lifelong and intergenerational work of decolonization and anti-racism.
Participants will spend the day pondering with Leslye some of her spirited writing through which we consider how we are continuing to be formed by colonization and racism, as well as how our baptismal call compels us not to worship at the altar of these conjoined systems.
Because of the sensitive nature of our work and the importance of each participant contributing to the creation of a safe shared space, arrive a few minutes early so that we may begin promptly at 9:30 am CT.
Before the retreat begins, assemble the following items from your creative contemplative practice: journal or paper, ink pen; coloring book or doodling pad with crayons or pens; yarn and knitting or crocheting instruments; etc.
Yes, the retreat is FREE. Donations will be accepted.
Leslye has studied at the Living School of the Center for Action and Contemplation, and the Guild for Spiritual Guidance. She earned a M.A. in Communication from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and her undergraduate degree from Xavier University of Louisiana.

UPDATES
August 27: The idea of developing a retreat has been stirring within me for a number of years. I recently wrote a piece that has not yet been published that brings me to this moment in which I will offer a free virtual retreat to prepare for the Season of Advent. The currently unpublished item will be the base for the retreat. The good news is that it is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, long before you become immersed in Thanksgiving preparations. My hope is that when we enter Advent on November 29, you will enter the Season and return to ponder and wrestle with what you receive from the retreat.
